– a loving mother, devoted friend, and woman of unwavering faith. Lorenza’s journey as a native of New Iberia, Louisiana, to nurturing a family in California and later returning to Galveston County, Texas, was marked by her kindness, strength, and a generous heart that touched everyone she met.
She had a gift for making people feel at home – whether through a funny joke, a slice of her infamous German Chocolate Cake, 7 Up Cake, Gumbo, Macaroni and Cheese, or a few words of wisdom and comfort. the Viewing on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, from 5-7 PM. at Carnes Funeral Home

April 17, 2025, at Greater St. Matthews Baptist Church, 6333 Hwy 6, Hitchcock, TX 77563 for a heartfelt homegoing celebration in memory of our beloved Lorenza Fontenot. The viewing begins at 9 am until 10 am. At which time we will proceed with the homegoing service gathering to honor her life by sharing cherished stories and finding comfort in one another’s presence.
Whether you are traveling from near or far, your participation brings warmth and love to this meaningful occasion. We hope that as you step into the sanctuary, you feel embraced by Lorenza’s spirit of hospitality and faith. Together, let us celebrate a remarkable life and offer praise for God’s everlasting care.
CELEBRATION OF LIFE (RE-PASS)
Following the service, we invite you to join us for a Celebration of Life (re-pass) at Johnaes Soul Food in Texas City. This gathering offers a moment to share heartfelt stories, enjoy comforting meals, and continue the fellowship that meant so much to Lorenza.
To help us plan accordingly, please let us know how many guests will be attending with you. This event is FREE, but you must register by April 10th. Although made public, this is not a public event. Only family, and friends of Lorenza, or her children are able to attend. No strangers will be permitted. If you wish to give a gift in Lorenza’s memory, contributions may be made via CashApp or PayPal. Thank you for your warm support, prayers, and presence as we celebrate her remarkable life and carry her spirit forward together.

When and where is the Homegoing Service being held?
The Homegoing Celebration for Lorenza Fontenot will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. CST at: Greater St. Matthews Baptist Church, 6333 Hwy 6, Hitchcock, TX 77563
Will there be a repast or Celebration of Life following the service?
Yes. The Repass Celebration will follow immediately after the burial and will be held at Johnaes, a warm space for fellowship, food, and memories. All guests must register by April 10th. No exceptions. This gathering is reserved for family and close friends who knew Lorenza or her children personally.
Is there a dress code for the service or repast?
We welcome guests to wear elegant and uplifting attire that reflects reverence and celebration. Lorenza loved color, grace, and poise — consider wearing navy blue, light blue, a touch of gold, or silver to honor her joyful spirit. Traditional black funeral attire is also perfectly acceptable.
Are there hotel accommodations nearby for out-of-town guests?
